Social media has become the biggest and most profitable platform for digital businesses across the entire world. At the top of the social media food chain are the influencers. They are the opinion leaders, entertainers, fashion role models and product marketers of the internet. As different social media platforms overtake each other on the internet, many influencers are upgrading their game.

There was once a time that all people needed was just a phone or camera coupled with some interesting skills, but now it’s becoming more than that. Social media users are currently migrating between social networks, from Facebook to Instagram to Snapchat and then to the biggest one right now, which is Tiktok.

Influencers have to keep up their brand and image by adopting new gadgets to make their work unique from other content creators in their niche. While observing the mediascape, I came across these gadgets that influencers now use. These new patterns help them get ahead by standing out remarkably among others. It cuts across niches and the different types of content creators.

Types of Content Creators

In the course of researching this article, I cmade a distinction between two (2) types of content creators. And these creators produce different outputs such as product reviews, unboxing, Vlogs, Behind-the-Scenes (BTS), interviews, live streaming and webinars.

• Live Streamers: Creators that make their content by live streaming daily or periodically. In some areas around the world, this is a full-time job. Livestreaming hosts make their videos alongside their viewers online. The hosts advertise different products, start debates and discussions or organise gain trains.
• Video Creators: These creators make their content by previously shooting and editing their videos on different platforms. They use all kinds of video editing applications to create different effects unique to their own style. These two significant influencers have specific gadgets to get ahead of others. Nigerian influencers mostly use devices like the iPhone (and other capable phones), ring light, microphone. A lot of creativity also goes into the post-production process.

However, there are a few individuals who have taken their game to the next level using high-end cameras and microphones for content creation. Some even go as far as hiring or collaborating with a dedicated cameraman. Now to the list and you might agree with me that these gadgets make a huge difference.

Must-have Gadgets For Content Creators

New content creators and infleuncers are springing up dail, I have made a list of some must-have gadgets to stay ahead of the ever-evolving industry.

1. A Drone

Creators use drones to capture aerial shots of nature, a place, themselves or in many other creative ways. Videos with aerial shots always hold our attention because they are unique and give a different perspective on everything. You have to stop scrolling when viewing such wonders because the scenes are captivating and perspectives never seen before.

Have you ever looked down at a city from a higher altitude other than the plane? Even the tallest building will not be able to give you the perspective you seek. It’s remarkable and unique, and many savvy creators use those to get ahead, even in Nigeria.

They only drawbacks about drones includes the learning curve, drone registration and licensing, I guess that’s why many creators don’t near it.

2. VR Headsets

I’m sure everyone on the internet knows what a Virtural Reality (VR) set is used unless they’re new here. VR headsets allows humans to interact with the virtual world. Imagine playing a candy crush game; now imagine that you weren’t playing a game of candy crush and that instead, you were inside the game touching the sweets and candies with your hands. That is virtual reality, and the metaverse brings it closer to us daily.

Influencers use these headsets to show us what the inside of the growing metaverse looks like. There is a possibility that the metaverse will change many things in the world and on the internet, so people want to see the processes as it happens.

3. Interactive Live Streaming Smartboard

The internet is a wonderful place; we see many gadgets daily, and we wonder why they make them and where we can get our hands on them. This smartboard is a bigger version of a smartphone. It’s operated just like an android phone with a long stylus stick to navigate through applications. They are used on live streams to act as a phone as they surf through their viewers’ profiles, sending likes and follows. The board is used exclusively by East Asian live streamers for gain trains and community building.

Upon seeing this for the first time, it was intriguing and different. It definitely places East Asian streamers in a league of their own. It shows a determination in their craft, unlike other live streamers who are always screaming “power tap!”, “let’s go, let’s go!”, “follow the gifters”, etc.

Content creators need to make a difference in whatever niche they craft videos for. If you are a creative, there should be that one time when you switch things up. By switching things up, I mean going with new trends, not video challenge trends and the likes. Since your craft depends on you treating your followers to new content, you need to evolve and shake things up once in a while so that you don’t become old and stale.
