Today, Elon Musk confirmed on his Twitter page that Starlink, a satellite internet constellation owned and managed by SpaceX had been approved in Nigeria.
Starlink provides satellite internet access coverage to 32 countries – including Nigeria, Mozambique, and The Philippines, which was announced earlier today. The technology and implementation of Starlink ensure high speed and low latency for data-hungry activities like video calls, streaming, and online gaming.
The licensing journey started in May 2021 when the Starlink team visited the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) complex in Abuja. The NCC has now issued Starlink an Internet Service Provider (ISP) license about a year later.
How much does Starlink satellite internet cost?
Starlink costs $110 (€99) per month with a one-time equipment fee of $599 (€629).
