The Big Brother Naija competition is back again! Before we get to know the housemates, the big brother Naija audition for season 7 will end on the 30th of May.
We are still hoping for a reality show competition with the 2023 presidential election candidates, but who knows? It’s Nigeria; anything can happen. Recently, many crazy things have been happening in Nigeria that you can easily predict a turn of events.
One of such things is the kind of people you can expect to find at the BBNaija auditions. The competition is currently in its seventh year of production, with six (6) past winners since 2017.
The Big Brother Naija reality show is really competitive, and it’s one of the most popular TV shows that launches average Nigerians into celebrity status. Every young person out there wants to become a BBNaija housemate because of the fame, opportunities, and exposure that come with it. Due to this, the auditions become a do-or-die affair.
Millions of young people try to vie for just 24 slots on the show, of only which 2 or 4 will be chosen. The rest will be selected through ‘connections,’ or so they say. However, this heartbreak doesn’t change the fact people still grace the auditions with all they have to offer.
Whether it’s a physical or virtual audition with a 2-min video window, you will see this kind of character.
1. The beggers
These characters are the kind you will find at any audition. They may not have the skills, personality, or qualities that the judges are looking for, so they beg their way.
You will often hear them say, “Please, sir, just help me,” “I can be fun and I’m talented,” and “Please, big brother, I can cook.” These kinds of people believe they can beg their way to the top. They won’t, of course. If this is your strategy, you won’t get your way at all.
2. The storytellers
The storytellers are those who can’t just keep shut about themselves, their accomplishments, and achievements. They’ve experienced almost everything on earth except BBNaija, and that’s why they are auditioning.
No one wants to hear you talk about yourself all day, please. These kinds believe their accomplishments can get them anywhere, so they always use them to their advantage. “I schooled in the University of Cambridge, I’ve worked at Google, I’m currently a Digital Marketer in Lagos and working towards my Ph.D. I have a blog where I talk more about myself, where I’ve been, and my experiences” yes, yes, yes, we get it!
3. The raw talent
When you see this type of person, you just know they are naturally talented. They don’t talk much about themselves but present the best thing they can offer or promote in themselves.
They are dancers, singers, artists, etc. Unlike others, they have a good reason for going into the big brother. When others want to just ‘catch cruise,’ eat free food and become famous for nothing, these guys have a talent they want to be known for.
4. The one’s from the Streets
You will always find the street kids born and raised in the ghetto. They dress funny, with funny makeup, color blocking, too much jewelry, and fake Gucci. The ones you will be seeing have spent years cleaning up themselves.
The refined ghetto kids will have to hustle up to this point where they look like average Nigerians to be taken seriously.
5. The people’s pleaser
These are the I CAN DO ANYTHING to win geng. “I love parties, I love having fun, I love dancing, in short, I love everything shit and all”. They always want to please others to get what they want, and at most times, they actually succeed. They will go around the audition venue, making friends with everyone to see how much they can gain.
6. Sharp guy
These are the intelligent people who always get the freshest and most accurate information in any gathering. They also know what goes on behind the scenes. As information peddlers, when they realize that not many slots are given to local audition centers, they begin to sell the contact of BBNaija staff members. Their own is that if they can at least do business and get little money, they will be fine.
