I caught the #NoShaveNovember bug in 2018 during my time in Prague; I thought it would be interesting to allow my beard to grow wild and free in a city I know no one. Coincidentally, I came across the #NoShaveNovember hashtag on Instagram and I jumped on it.

No-Shave November is about raising awareness about cancer and donating to cancer initiatives. You can learn more about the movement on the No-Shave November website.

Safe haven and protection: There are many things you will never again, your chin should be one of them. A well-kept beard will keep you nice and warm on cold nights. By the way, a full beard is not annoying in the Summer.

Sometimes in the heart of the summer, I look at people with their faces shaved and think it’d be nice, but once you get used to it, it’s not as hot. Most guys say it gets itchy, but once you grow it out into a big man beard, the itching is gone.

Trespassers: Apart from the licensed people in your life e.g. your barber and girlfriend, there are people who want to touch your beard without permission as if it’s going to make them sleep better at night.

It gets weird with people wanting to touch my hair and beard boundaries, you know?

Be the talk of the town: There are not so many bearded men, even when they forget your name – your beard is the go-to description.

I just lead my life as naturally, as normally as I possibly can. But I can’t help it if controversy is hounding me day in and day out. I’m quite amazed sometimes by the way they go about it. I grow a beard and it lands up in the editorial in The Times of India.
